Hearts & Hands For Malvern
Stonebridge UMC partners with a local elementary school to help provide support and resources which help students achieve their greatest potential in these early education years. Throughout the year, our congregation volunteers their time in the classrooms, raises funds and supplies for teachers and students, provides a summer food program for students who may face hunger outside of school, hosts appreciation events for teachers and staff, and much more! Partner with us as we partner with the students, faculty, and staff at Malvern Elementary.
For the 2024-25, we will:
•Pair every teacher with a Classroom Partner who will volunteer at least 1 hour a week in the classroom.
•Host a Summer Food Pantry that helps families with Malvern students who may otherwise be hungry.
•Host a Christmas Gift program for families with Malvern students who are in financial need.
•Volunteer as a part of the school-wide field day.
•Provide appreciation treats and luncheons for teachers and staff several times in the year.
•Provide school supplies to students in the Fall and classroom supplies to teachers in the Spring.
•And partner with the principal and PTA on any other projects needed.
•Most Importantly: We will build relationships with our neighbors in the community as we grow and learn together!

Malvern Angel Tree
Every year we adopt Angles for Malvern students and siblings so that their Christmas can be special. Malvern Angels will be available for selection November 10, 17, and 24. Please return all gifts unwrapped by Sunday, December 1.
Malvern Coat and Hoodie Drive
Throughout the month of October, we will be collecting coats, hats, hoodies and gloves for Malvern again this year.
Some larger adult sizes are also needed.
Donations can be place in the Malvern coat bins by each worship entrance. Please make all donations by November 10.
Holiday Breads for Malvern Teachers and Staff
The Malvern Fall Treat for Teachers and Staff at Malvern Elementary is happening! We do this to show how thankful we are for what they do.
We need 100 loaves of bread, baked in aluminum disposable pans. The breads need to be full loaves, either 8x4 or 9x5. PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE NUTS. Leave in pans as it is easier to pack and deliver to Malvern. Please wrap loaves in clear plastic wrap.
Suggested breads: Pumpkin, banana, cranberry, apple, etc. Label type of bread.
Please bring loaves to the church Sunday, November 17 during church services. The loaves can be left in either church kitchen or RAC kitchen.
If you are available on Monday, November 18th, please sign up to help decorate the breads and then deliver to Malvern Elementary.

Classroom Partners
Classroom Partners commit to serve at least one hour per week throughout the school year in a designated teacher’s classroom. Partners might read to students, help with Math activities, or assist the teacher in many other ways.
The students at Malvern Elementary NEED your assistance and your encouragement!
Teachers are still in need of a CLASSROOM PARTNER!
1 hour per week
Your choice of age...Kindergarten through 5th grade
You may be asked to work with one student or a small group of students on their reading skills or basic math skills. The teacher will give you your assignment each week.
WE NEED 10 CLASSROOM PARTNERS. There are openings at all grade levels, 1st through 5th and for 4 Special Ed. classes.
Special Ed. classes have a small number of the most loving students!

Mentors
Mentors are volunteers who are assigned to 1 child for the school year. A Mentor meets with the student during the student's lunch hour one time per week. They commit to 45 minutes a week. The Mentor gets to know the child, provides encouragement and guidance. Mentors help improve a student’s self-esteem, self-confidence, motivation, and personal and social skills and grades. Mentor Training will be provide by MISD's REACH staff.
Both positions require that each volunteer apply to McKinney ISD for approval as a 2024-25 school volunteer.

Malvern Summer Food Pantry
As part of Stonebridge UMC’s partnership with Malvern Elementary, we run a Summer Food Pantry for students and families who would normally depend on the free breakfast and lunch during the school year. Food insecurity is an even bigger issue this year with the price of groceries being so expensive. Thank you to all those who donated or volunteered with the Malvern Summer Food Pantry this year!
Malvern School Supply Drive
Thanks to all who donated to our school supply drive in July!
