Stonebridge UMC Prayer Walk for Schools
Sunday, August 18
What better way to support our schools than to pray for all students, teachers, staff, and administration! We hope to have someone commit to praying for each school in McKinney ISD. Sign up opportunities coming soon.
Stonebridge UMC Prayer Walk for Schools
Thank you for joining in supporting our McKinney schools through prayer. There are three ways to complete the “walk:”
Meet at the school building and walk the campus.
Stay in your car and drive around the campus.
Be at home and do the “walk” virtually by accessing the school’s webpage.
Please post a picture of your walk on your Facebook page and on our Stonebridge UMC Community Facebook page.
The prayer guide below will help you center your mind and heart on the many ways we seek God’s guidance and help for all students, teachers, and staff this academic year. Thank you again for your faithfulness.
Starting Point: Flagpole (Prayer for God’s Presence)
Holy God, King of glory, we praise you that you are on this campus and will remain here at all times. Thank you for the godly men and women that you have called into service at this school. May your Spirit guide all who are here to lead, teach, and care for these students, including principals, teachers, librarians, nurses, counselors, custodians, food service workers and other support staff. May they act in the best interest of these students. Settle your presence on this school so that the students here will discover who you created them to be, the gifts you’ve given them, and what purpose you intend for their lives.
All Respond: Lord, Hear our prayer.
One-Quarter Point (Prayer for God’s Protection)
Lord, as our shield, thank you for spreading your protection over these students. We praise you for being their mighty fortress. No one is exempt from trials in this world, and we don’t know the difficulties they face each day, but you do. Be present with them; come quickly to their rescue, be their rock of refuge. Protect them physically, emotionally and spiritually so they can realize your full potential and recognize your sovereignty. We pray for safety on this campus at all times. Keep all at this school safe and strong. May your Spirit provide a hedge of protection for this campus so that learning, growth, and development may occur uninhibited.
All Respond: Lord, Hear our prayer.
Halfway Point (Prayer for God’s Leadership)
Loving God, we thank you for this school district and for this school. We pray that the students will receive positive values and supportive guidance from the leaders at this school. Pour out your Spirit on these leaders and make your Word known to them. Light in them a desire to do what is right in your sight. We pray for peace, harmony, and good health among staff. We ask that you give teachers gentle words of truth to build up their students and their character. We pray that the parents of the students would be present and active in their children’s education, serving as effective partners in the educational process. We pray that they too are guided by your wisdom and love.
All Respond: Lord, Hear our prayer.
Three-Quarter Point (Prayer for God’s Glory)
Let your glory be revealed at this school, Lord. As you continue to complete the good work you have begun in these students, we pray that they will find joy in life at school, either through academics, sports, music or other activities. We pray that you will continue to reveal yourself – your power, your mercy and your love – and that more students, teachers, and staff will choose to be examples of Christ to those around them in conduct, in word, in love, and in faith. Lord, may your faithful children within this school be a light on their campus, letting your light shine so that others see their good works and believe in you.
All Respond: Lord, Hear our prayer.
Back at Starting Point (Closing Prayer)
Gracious and Merciful God, as we have circled this building with our prayers, we ask that you encircle this school and all who enter it with your presence, your protection, your leadership, and your glory. We celebrate your presence today, we praise you for hearing our prayers, and we are grateful for your steadfast love.
All Respond: In Jesus’ name, Amen.
