Making Stonebridge UNSTOPPABLE
/Greetings Church Family,
We have finished the last home meeting of the Summer Listening Tour – Making Stonebridge UNSTOPPABLE. It has been an incredible run of seven meetings over the past seven weeks. I have collected well over 200 cards with your expectations, dreams, and ideas on how to make Stonebridge UNSTOPPABLE. My plan is to take the discussion notes and cards from these gatherings and put together a report of the major themes with a recommendation of a strategy to address the future of Stonebridge to make our church UNSTOPPABLE.
We are already working on the first initiative to improve the landscaping on the north side of the building. Individuals are stepping up to make this project possible to improve the entrance to our church. We have collected enough funds and volunteer labor to underwrite over $30,000 of the $40,000+ project. We still have a need for another $10,000 and would love to hear from those who would like to donate (john@mysumc.org). Anyone can volunteer for the first workday on July 20 by going to our SignUpGenius.
I love Stonebridge UMC. This week we have seen an army of servant volunteers helping prep the From Trinkets to Treasures sale. It has turned into a massive event. You will not want to miss this. There is so much art, furniture, nicknacks, jewelry, books, and such, it has spilled out of Celebration Hall and into the hallways. Plus, the silent auction and raffle items are awesome. Our church is going to be talking about this for a long time.
Finally, this Sunday I will be preaching on the last missionary journey of Paul and the end of his life and ministry (Acts 19-28). We see Paul focusing on the foundational Gospel message of forgiveness of sin through faith in Jesus Christ, the critical ongoing need for the community (the church) that supported the new believer.
This is why we gather weekly to worship – to practice God’s glory. This is why we join in community to show support and love for each other – to practice God’s love. This is why we go out into the community to make a difference – to practice the way of Christ.
See you at From Trinkets to Treasures on Friday and Saturday and then on Sunday in worship. Tell someone about the great things that are happening at Stonebridge UMC.
Pastor John Allen
