Looking Forward to the Future
/Greetings in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord,
God is so good! Great things are happening at Stonebridge UMC. We continue to see people returning to worship. There is a movement of the Spirit in our community bringing people back to worship. This past Sunday, we joined our worship services together at 11:00 for one service with breakfast served before. It was outstanding! Our hospitality team did a phenomenal job, and the Men’s group prepared an awesome breakfast. Thanks to all who made this holiday weekend special.
This Sunday our worship will focus on our hope for a new future. As we celebrate the Lord’s Supper, I will deal with the question, “What does God have in store for us?” We will be looking at one of the greatest promises of the Old Testament from Isaiah 35. Isaiah is speaking to a people with no hope. Their way of life was being challenged by moral and ethical decay. It seemed as if their civilization was about to be destroyed from within and the threat from their enemies on their border was looming. Into this great time of challenge, Isaiah offers words of hope.
As we look at our world what would Jesus say? Jesus would give us the same assurance he gave his disciples on the night before his suffering. He taught his disciples many things about the power that was coming to them. Then Jesus said, “I have said this to you so that in me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution, but take courage: I have conquered the world!” (John 16:33)
We have hope in Christ. We have the assurance of our Savior. For this reason, I look forward to the future with great, undying hope in Christ Jesus our Lord.
See you in worship!
